Hi, Im melissa, and Ive been appreciating art for my whole life. I am taking AT280 because I needed more humanities credits and because I am sure I will enjoy it. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting but recently learned to crochet. The bright color combonations are exciting but I also like saving money and making things myself. This example of "art for arts sake" is one of my favorites.
This is the first blog I have ever written, but the subject matter is "right up my alley." My family loves to travel and I have been to many art galleries around the country. The Smithsonian is a fascinating place and I am eager to go back. Among friends and coworkers I am the "artsy" one and often am "recruited" to create.
My taste in artwork is widespread. One of my favorite pieces is The Kiss by Le Baiser. Its hanging in my bedroom.
On the other hand, this painting by MJ de Mesterton called Gem and Rock Painting is simply beautiful, full of color and shape.
The way I most often appreciate art is nature-made art. A leisurely walk through the park can restore me to sanity and wash a hard day away.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to seeing new things, and exploring the city. This semester should be an enjoyable one.

Hi Melissa, good start! Don't forget to answer the questions I asked specifically on the assignment sheet, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThe artist who painted "The Kiss" ("Le Baiser" is the French translation of the title) is Gustav Klimt. :)
